Beacon’s flexibility provides work/life balance

“Beacon is great at accommodating their staff’s personal and professional aspirations where possible, thus enabling staff to achieve work/life balance. This flexibility is a great way to retain the knowledge and experience of our staff as Beacon capabilities for the long run.

I was Employee Number Six when I started here as a BA/Team Lead in the first year of Beacon’s operation. I did that for five years, and then switched to a part-time role to pursue theological studies. Yes, totally unrelated to work, but it was great for personal fulfilment. This allowed me to continue contributing to Beacon while getting the opportunity to recharge myself. At the same time, I became a dad, and the break also allowed me to be there for my newly extended family.

After a year, I returned to a full time role refreshed, and worked my way up to Principal Process Engineer (PPE) in four years. Currently, I have switched again to a part-time role and you could say my theme for the year is knowledge acquisition and knowledge sharing. I mentor the present PPE and coordinate Beacon’s internal training workshops to sustain an environment of learning and continual improvement through practice forums, internal improvement projects and activities, and formal and informal sharing of best practices. At the same time, I am pursuing an MBA which provides great synergy with my contributions at Beacon.”
