Beacon’s recent testing initiatives provided robust ways to mitigate risks and improve the quality and reliability of two insurance clients’ core business systems.

Challenge - The first client needed to needed to run about 5,000 endorsement and computer share tests before their SHIELD project went ‘Live’. If done manually, these tests would take months to complete.

Solution - Beacon provided an Excel-based framework to simplify the way users could record results against baseline results. Beacon completed this automation within a tight time frame of several weeks. The testing pack will be used during the data migration testing phase and as a regression pack in future. This solution was developed in QTP and VB by a testing team comprising an Automation Requirements Analyst/Team Lead, and a Developer.

Challenge – The second client required a fully automated regression test suite for the business-to-consumer side of their online quotation and sales delivery portal.

Solution – Test cases numbering in the 100s were automated to ensure regression tests can be run thoroughly and efficiently without the need for extensive manual testing. Work was driven by our Test Automation Specialist, who selected a reliable free open source tool to perform the automation, and Excel as the test data driver.
